Note to self: never give 11 girls the same punishment.
So, several of our girls misbehaved one night this week and we promised to punish them. Their punishment ended up being kitchen duty after lunch yesterday, but here's the thing- these girls are all friends, and so to them, being crammed into one room and given a task wasn't much of an inconvenience. Here're a few photos from the afternoon.

Cristal.

Rebeca.

In the meantime, Cielo was showing off another lost tooth with her twin, Brisa. These girls are as sweet here as they are in person.

Rafa, in his awesome Hawaiian shirt. He and four of his siblings are in the middle of the adoption process with a family from Michigan- I hope and pray for it's completion.

Gosh, it's awful when I can't remember a name. But this guy is new...give me a few more days. He came last week with an older brother and two younger sisters, pictured below. This is a pretty rowdy bunch.

Careli and Jasmin. The poor things look homeless, but I promise we bathe them and brush their hair every day!

Careli.

Jasmin and Careli.

Some of the girls helped me make brownies for Adidlene, a highschooler living in the house who is an amazing help to me. She cares for the girls while Mary Ellen and I take our day off.

Ana and I.

Nancy.

All my little chefs with our "little cakes." The girls were very impressed with the Betty Crocker brownie mix- a new and exciting treat.

Remember Flor? One of our worst behavior problems in the room? Praise the Lord, she's not the same girl. We hardly ever hear a peep out of her at night- I can't believe it. And I think she's even a little kinder to the animals. If you prayed for her, thank you.

Thanks for the blog & photos. Traci & I faithfully check after every weekend. I hope you can talk Linda or her husband into taking over this task after you depart. Since Rosa doesn't answer email, you are the only link we have to LoVII! Please let me know if/when Ana gets her b-day card from us.
all your blogs are so encouraging to me, to go deeper in my walk with god and to pray more earnestly that you and all the staff are touched eached day by gods grace and love and strength.
God Bless
Praying for you all....those kids are absolutely adorable! Thanks for sharing the pictures and answers to prayers! Sounds like God is doing a lot there! Keep us updated and I'll for keep praying for you guys and these little ones of the Lord's.
Okay, okay...I'm waiting to hear the story that "could only happen there"....try not to keep me in suspense too long! ;)
P.s...it's almost looking as though we're gonna finish up with support around Christmas...which means we'll be in SC when you get home! That's such a mixture of emotions for me.
Love you both...praying you through.

So I just sat down and read about a months-worth of this blog. I've quickly realized that after I work all day, the internet had become much less of a priority... but I had today off, and I loved catching up on all the Mexican insanity!
While reading, I was reminded several times of the choice I have to work with a joyous attitude or with a grumbling one. Through your words and the lessons that the Lord has been teaching you both, I have been greatly encouraged! I work with a number of christian and non-christian women, and the Lord is showing me that he had placed me in this job for a reason. While faced with a difficult customer or a daunting (albeit insignificant) task, I have the opportunity to show Christ to those I work with.
Thank you both for being honest with your struggles and for (unknowingly) leading me to take some of my sins and give them to the Lord.
I'm praying for you both and for those energetic children - and the spider situation! Eep! We have been having a snake problem at my house recently (i didn't know my parents lived in the wilderness) so I can sympathize. I have yet to pee on myself, though. I'll be honest - I've thought about it.
love you both -

p.s. All of these random celebrities (jack white, faith hill, alison krauss, leann rhimes, etc...) have been coming into Anthropologie (did you know I'm working there???) and, although it's been exciting, I was most thrilled when the one and only Amy Grant came in. I told her that my first concert ever was seeing her at Starwood with my mom in 1995. It was a hilarious day. I thought you both might appreciate the experience.
wow, it has been a few weeks since i have read any blogs from ya girls! i love hearing about what is going on at lotv. it sounds like things are busy there....just as usual. i must say that i am amazed to hear about flor and how she has been transformed! god is good! :)
